Your Word for This Day: “Living Free from Worry”

Friday, October 27, 2017

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Worry is one of the diseases that has afflicted believers.  We worry over every single thing.  Like fear, worry consumes us, for it is part of the whole demonic kingdom.  Worry is married to fear. They are inseparable. And together they produce defeat.

In today’s reading, the Apostle Paul is instructing the Christians at Philippi not to worry, be anxious or overly concerned about anything.  He was communicating to them that peace can be enjoyed as they let go of all their earthly concerns and focused on God.

What is it that takes your peace away? If you would be honest, you would surely identify worry as that one factor that affects your peace. We worry even when we have nothing to worry about and we are amazed that everything is alright. Such is the power of worry. We are, however, going to do the opposite today.  We will not be anxious.  Instead we are going to live on Prayer Avenue and work in Thanksgiving Corporation.  We will pray as we work and give thanks as we go through our day.

Our response to life situations today will be one of peace.  Instead of being angry, confused or troubled, let the peace of God keep our hearts and minds.  Today we will let go and let God be God in our lives.

Prince of Peace, I come to You asking You to fill my heart and mind with Yourself.  I open my heart to You and I surrender all that prevents me from trusting You in all situations.  I let go of all that I am holding on to and trying to work out for myself.  Be Lord of my life and teach me how to live in Your Word, replacing fear with faith and anxiety with confidence.   Amen.
